The National Center for Innovation provides its services to the innovation, scientific research, and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Jordan, activating its role as a national umbrella to nurture and stimulate it and facilitate the work of stakeholders, as well as enabling cooperative opportunities among them, in order to achieve its strategic objectives.
These services are divided into two main types:
The National Center for Innovation manages, and develops a database of stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, composed of researchers and experts within and outside of Jordan in universities, research centers, funding bodies, government institutions, companies, and more. Their information and data are automatically updated, creating a primary source for vital, dynamic statistics and quantitative and qualitative performance indicators related to innovation activities. This assists in evaluating and monitoring the creative and innovative sectors.
Thus, the National Center for Innovation acts as the primary reference and provider of information by tracking performance indicators for national innovation strategies, supplying the government with feedback regarding the legal and regulatory aspects of innovation activities to ensure transparency and good performance. The Center operates in an inclusive and integrative manner to organise and coordinate the efforts of stakeholders to enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors and regulate inputs and outputs to organise and improve the operational environment. It aims to activate cooperation between science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, with the goal of promoting Jordan as a regional hub for innovation and contributing to the realisation of an ambitious and innovative Jordan.
The National Center for Innovation conducts studies on the legal obstacles facing entities involved in innovation in both the public and private sectors. It assesses the continuity, transparency, and enforcement of the law, and finds solutions to problems that hinder the harnessing of innovation for developmental purposes. The NCI provides legislative expertise, advice, and consultation to the government and the private sector in all fields of innovation to help establish an enabling environment for stakeholders in the Jordanian innovation, scientific research, and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Based on these assessments, the NCI develops policies and strategies to improve the environment for innovation, scientific research, and entrepreneurship.
In addition to its role in studying and analysing these legal obstacles, the NCI also provides the necessary legal consultations for the innovation, scientific research, and entrepreneurship ecosystem stakeholders in Jordan to facilitate their operations.
The National Center for Innovation, in partnership with various entities in the Jordanian innovation, scientific research, and entrepreneurship ecosystem, implements training programs and workshops. The aim of these initiatives is to build and enhance the capabilities of Jordanian innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers, equipping them with new skills and tools that will help them to elevate their work with high efficiency and develop their ideas into commercial ventures, with the ultimate goal of contributing to a knowledge-based economy.
The NCI undertakes and manages many recurring activities of the same field, and since 2022, it has been offering:
1- The Adbe’ Training Program.
2- The Tamkeen Award for Start-ups.
3- The Tamayyaz Competition.
The National Center for Innovation organises and manages National Innovation Conferences and Awards, in partnership with various entities in Jordan's innovation, scientific research, and entrepreneurship ecosystem. This initiative aims to encourage Jordanian innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers to develop their ideas and transform them into commercial ventures, with the ultimate goal of diversifying the income sources of the national economy.
